Hayward Simpson

Hayward Simpson was originally from Bluefield, WV and served with the U. S. Navy in WWII before coming Huntington to become the Band Director at Douglass High School. After the school closed in 1961, he was assigned to Oley Junior High School where he was the band director and taught science and French.  He later taught physics at Huntington High School. He was proud of the marching and concert bands. The marching traveled to out-of-town football games and always presented an exciting program half-time.  The concert band always performed great programs that parents, and school personnel always looked forward to.
