Celes Sheffield

Celes Sheffield is a lifelong resident of Huntington and is a graduate of Huntington High School. After graduation, she attended Marshall University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

She worked at the Time-Out Youth Shelter as a behavioral management team member and then for the Huntington WV Housing Authority as resident initiative coordinator. She then went on to become the executive director of the Ebenezer Community Outreach Center’s Daycare Center, and has held that position for almost 20 years.

Celes is a member of the Douglass-Huntington High Black Alumni Association, Fairfield Community Development Corporation Advisory Group, Our Lady of Good Counsel, the Fairfield Alliance and Habitat for Humanity.  She is a past board member of Habitat for Humanity and the Family Resource Network. She is an active member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, where she served as a religious education teacher.
