P.J. Moore

Preston J. Moore, affectionately known as P.J., was a lifelong resident of Huntington. He graduated from Huntington East High School where he played basketball and football. He attended college in Missouri. Upon his return home, he worked at Marathon Oil in Kentucky.

Moore was a sports enthusiast. He was a Buddy Basketball League participant and played for Elks 313 in the early 1970s. Both of his sons played at the local YMCA. He coached before, during and after the playing stints of his sons.

Moore also served as a statistician for the Huntington High School basketball team while his oldest son played for the team. He encouraged the players to do their best and would always praise them for their effort.  He was as an asset to the youth of the Fairfield community.
