Bessie McClain

Food Manager

Bessie McClain was a lifelong resident of Huntington. She was a deaconess at First Baptist Church and also served in the Willing Workers women’s organization and on the trustee board of the church.

She worked as a sales clerk. Interestingly, she was featured in newspaper articles when managing three seafood businesses that helped fund the rebuilding of First Baptist Church. As an employee with the West Virginia Foster Grandparent Program, she participated in the Breakfast of Champions with Marshall University basketball stars. She worked to feed the hungry at Thanksgiving through her volunteerism with various churches.

Socially, she held memberships in the Loyal Order of Bisons and the Occasional Club.
