Teresa Johnson

City Councilwoman

Teresa Johnson grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and came to Huntington in 1978 when she married Virgil Johnson. In 1979, she began babysitting children, which grew into opening her own childcare center, Heaven Sent. Johnson has been in the foster care business for six-and-a-half years and has been a member of CASA for 3 years.

Johnson is a member of Real Life Christian Center Church and begins every morning with her daily devotional. She is a board member of the Fairfield Community Development Corporation and the Fairfield Alliance, and is a connector with Faith Health. In 2020, she ran for Huntington City Council and was elected to a four-year term as the District 5 representative.

Johnson enjoys hearing the stories of the elderly and learning from them. In the fall of 2022, she led a new coat drive to give every student at Spring Hill Elementary School a new coat.  She was able to collect more than 500 brand new coats for the students.
