DuRon Jackson

DuRon Jackson is a lifelong resident of Huntington and a graduate of Huntington High School. He began working at Tri-State Airport in the maintenance division maintaining runways and facilities. He discovered his passion while volunteering at the Huntington YMCA in 2003, coaching his children’s basketball teams. He coached for 10 years before receiving a position with the YMCA. He began developing programs, establishing instructional leagues and coaching 12 soccer teams.

Jackson currently is the director of community engagement at the YMCA and is a tremendous asset in the organization’s effort to engage, prepare and assist kids in their developmental growth. His position at the YMCA has led him to become more active in the community. He is a member of the Cabell County Substance Abuse Prevention Partnership and is currently working to bring more outreach programs to the YMCA.

In 2020, Jackson was elected to Huntington City Council as an At-Large representative, becoming the first Black individual to achieve that accomplishment. He also is a board member of the Fairfield Community Development Corporation and United Way of the River Cities and is a member of the NAACP and God’s House of Prayer and Praise.
