Michael & Brian Hornbuckle

Chief Master Sergeants Brian and Michael Hornbuckle are twins who grew up in Huntington. They attended and graduated from Huntington High School in 1991 before going on to attend Marshall University for two years. In 1993, they transferred to the University of Kentucky where they earned their bachelor’s degrees in Music Education in 1996. Brian continued his education at the University of Louisville, while Michael attended the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati for one year and transferred to the University of Louisville where they both earned their Master of Music Performance degrees in 1998.

They both enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 2000, rising to the top 1% of the enlisted force and are still serving today. Brian was the first African American to obtain Chief Master Sergeant, beginning and continuing his career as a regional bandsman and is currently the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Band of the Golden West. Michael currently is the Senior Enlisted Leader of the Band of the Pacific for both Japan and Hawaii locations.
