Mike Hornbuckle

Mike Hornbuckle made Huntington his home at the age of 18 after growing up in Logan. He obtained a Business Degree from Marshall University and started working for Connors Steel.

While raising a family and working a full-time job, he served as a mentor to the youth and was active in coaching softball, soccer and basketball. He provided places for kids to live, transportation and guidance while coaching AAU Basketball, traveling the country winning championships and getting kids exposure and scholarships with his big brother Fred Hornbuckle. Many of the youth he coached and mentored have become professional athletes.

Hornbuckle currently is a real estate agent in Tennessee, where he moved after retiring as the business manager at Steel of West Virginia. He has been associated with the YMCA, Rowdies Soccer Program and the Beverly Hills Youth Football League. He is a member of the Marshall University Alumni Association and Marshall University’s Black Alumni Association.
