Frankie Nowlin

Frankie Nowlin grew up in Huntington and graduated from Huntington High School. She continued her education at Marshall University, earning a bachelor’s degree in education and working on a post-graduate degree in adult education.

She taught at Lincoln Junior High School for two years before enrolling at West Virginia University to earn her master’s degree in sociology. She returned to Huntington and began working at OIC. She started as the director of education, then moved up to assistant director and eventually executive director.

Nowlin moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she enrolled at Ohio State University and completed one year of post-graduate work. She worked as president of the Borden Foundation for 14 years, vice president of social justice at the YWCA and executive director of Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corp. She is semi-retired and lives in North Carolina.
