Harold Matney

A native of Bluefield, West Virginia, and graduate of Bluefield State College, Harold Matney came to Huntington to teach science at Douglass High School after being recruited by Principal Smith Jones.

Matney also taught at Huntington East High School and Lincoln Junior High School before moving to Columbus, Ohio, to teach physics at Grove City High School.

While Matney lived in Huntington, he was active with the Masons, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Ebenezer Methodist Church and completed his master’s degree in chemistry at Marshall University.
