Dallas and Yvonne Jones

Dallas Jones grew up in Gary, West Virginia, and graduated from Gary High School. He came to Huntington to attend Marshall University. Soon after he began his college career, he enlisted in the Army and served four years before returning to finish his bachelor’s degree in Sociology and continued to earn his master’s degree in Sociology.

His first job was working as the executive director of Action, Inc. He left that position to work for the U.S. Postal Service for six years. He went on to work at the Ohio Center in Ironton, Ohio, with the foster care program before continuing his career with Prestera Center until his retirement.

Dallas is a member of Marshall Arts Unity and was a member of Full Gospel Assembly and Christ Temple churches. He has a passion for gardening.

Yvonne Jones grew up in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, and graduated from Greenbrier East High School. She came to Huntington to attend Marshall University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling.

Her first job was as a personnel assistant and then director of personnel for the City of Huntington. She then was hired as the executive director of the Barnett Child Care Center. During her 15-year tenure at Barnett, the facility added after-school care in addition to being a pre-school program.

Yvonne then worked for six years with the Marshall University School of Medicine as an office administrator for Pediatrics. She was eventually hired as the executive director of Ebenezer Medical Outreach, where she worked for 15 years before retiring.

She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and is very active in her church, in White Sulphur Spring where she started the Women of Color for Change group.  She is the co-author of the book “Yours is the Kingdom.”
